Michael Lennon moved back to Australia in 2007 to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer, of what has become, Housing Choices Australia – a new affordable housing organisation, building on British and European models. He is also an advisor to the Australian Federal Government on the new National Affordable Housing Agreement.

Prior to this he was the Chief Executive of Glasgow Housing Association Limited following the largest housing stock transfer in Europe. Michael led the organisation through this critical time.

Before this Michael’s career has encompassed a number of executive leadership positions in a wide range of public agencies associated with housing, planning and urban development. He has also worked extensively in the private sector.

Before joining GHA, he led the establishment of and was Chief Executive of the Housing New Zealand Corporation in Wellington. He also led the restructuring of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute, a consortium of 12 Universities with State and Commonwealth governments.

Michael is currently Honorary Professor of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow.
